The content manager oversees the planning, production and execution of owned content in support of The School of Business marketing and communications strategy.
The content strategy at PSU's School of Business is designed to raise the School's visibility and reputation by telling the stories of its students, alumni, faculty and programs, with the ultimate goal of increasing enrollment in graduate and undergraduate business programs. The content manager position is responsible for project management of all owned written and multimedia content, including managing student employees and vendors who help contribute to planning, development and execution.
Develop an understanding of regional, national, and international markets for undergraduate and graduate business programs.
Develop an understanding of the School's key competencies and differentiations.
Research, propose and plan content that promotes the School's thought leadership and key areas of differentiation.
Collaborate with the team to develop and manage an annual editorial calendar to meet strategic marketing and communications objectives.
Research and produce content surrounding program updates, student activities, student profiles, alumni profiles, faculty profiles, faculty research, faculty activities and events.
Research and write stories promptly as they occur.
Produce print and digital content — including photo, video and written — in collaboration with team members for promotion in relevant channels.
Execute content according to annual content calendar; ability to adhere to established deadlines and also be flexible based on planned or unplanned priorities.
Place content on appropriate channels, including — but not limited to — website, e-newsletters, blogs, social media, posters and flyers.
BA/BS with 3+ years of related experience or Master's with 1+ year of related experience
Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to apply different writing styles
Passionate about content marketing, inbound marketing, and digital marketing, with knowledge of trends and best practices in campaigns, social media, media, digital engagement and analytics
Ability to form relationships with liaisons and stakeholders, and bridge across functions to bring a story to life
Detail-oriented, deadline-oriented, creative, critical thinker, problem-solver, collaborative Ability to collect, analyze, distill, and re-purpose complex information (such as faculty research) and identify compelling story angles
Proficiency in content management systems such as Drupal/Wordpress, email marketing tools such as Emma, Microsoft Office, and Google Applications
Inclined to innovate and identify continuous improvements
Experience managing student employees
Experience managing third party vendors
Understanding of The Business School target audiences and competitive landscape
Experience managing graphic design and video projects
Experience writing in AP style
