The Online Marketing Specialist is an agile person with strong writing and interpersonal skills who thoroughly understands social media platforms and can support UVA’s online and social presences as well as provide strategic guidance. This person will understand the strengths, unique qualities and limitations of existing social media channels. This person will draw on this knowledge to plan appropriate digital content and tactics for the Health System and will guide others inside and outside the department in this process. This person will also be responsible for monitoring social media channels and other feedback mechanisms, promptly triaging external concerns and questions to the appropriate departments.
This role will work across the team on a variety of writing and editing tasks for uvahealth.com, our Healthy Balance blog, landing pages and social media. There is a dedicated team member responsible for managing social media and the blog; this role will support those efforts while also working on site content and other digital projects. The role requires five years of paid web writing experience (corporate or freelance).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and implement plans and strategies for social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Work closely with colleagues within and outside of Marketing to advise and guide appropriate use of social media within departments and for the Health System as a whole.
Plan and develop content for and update social media channels, Healthy Balance blog, and marketing emails.
Monitor social media channels and respond to positive and negative comments as appropriate. Triage questions and problems from customers and other constituents as appropriate.
Develop content for and assist others in updating and QA’ing the Health System’s external-facing websites (uvahealth.com, childrens.uvahealth.com, and newsroom.uvahealth.com).
Market blog and other online content through social media and the web (search engine optimization, listing services, etc.) to drive traffic to uvahealth.com and the UVA Health System blog.
Provide guidance for content and platform goals and objectives and implement metrics to measure effectiveness of efforts.
Education: Bachelor's degree required
Experience: 5 years professional web writing experience required
